Default Need help in Suches, GA area.

I was just at the Deep Hole Recreation Area, which is about 12 miles West of Suches, GA. Somewhere along the way of camping there overnight, I became throughly attached to a dog that was roaming the campground.

At the time I wasn't able to collect the dog, and she might not still even be there. But if she is, then I consider her a "lost dog" and I consider her "my" lost dog. And it makes me sad.

So if someone happens through the area on GA-60, and can find her, I will drive the 7 hours to come get her and bring her home.

I know it's a strange request, but I felt an attachment to that animal that I haven't felt in a long time. If you do find her and I can't get there right away (should be in the area at the end of this month), I'll cover food costs and give you some for your trouble.

I am including links to some pictures of her. She slept in my vestibule during rain, and then immediately outside my tent when it stopped raining. Then laid where my tent was when I had removed it. I should have just put her in my car right then....

there seems to be a persistant belief that dogs can take care of themselves. The reality is that they either hook up with a pack or quickly starve. Too many dogs get dumped out in the woods cause their owners tire of them and consider it the "humane" ( read cheap) way to deal with the matter. If a dog has no collar and is looking for help, give it.

One of my regrets is leaving a dobbie puppy on the road to Dutch Fields there by the parking lot to Big Frog. Shoulda taken him.

I regret leaving this girl there too. I might have been able to work it out to bring her then but it was not really in the cards. Now, I'd really make the trip back just for her.

I would really appreciate if someone in the area could pass word along or run out there and check for her.

    Thanks!!!

No luck. I called the managing area for Deep Hole Rec. Area and they happened to have someone out there the next day, and the pup (dubbed "Georgia") was nowhere to be seen.

There was a lady who mentioned taking her home. I would love to be able to contact her, but I'm thinking the lady at Deep Hole Rec. Area would think I'm some crazy stalker type.

It's so weird feeling so attached to a dog I just met. But I would really really love to be able to find her.

Call the local vet and see if anyone has reported her as found. Whenever I find an animal, I first check the vet. Whenever I lose an animal, I first check the vet.

No dice at any of the vets or animal hospitals I called today. I guess it's probably past hope at this point. I mean, she was never my dog anyway, I guess.

    Still, I'm sad.
