Great article. Thanks for posting.
Woods Hole was always one of my favorite places...Tillie's son Jerry Wood has been Mayor of the City of Roswell, GA for quite a few years and quite the character.
Excellent article and excellent hostel.
Thanks for sharing the link.

Nellie is a great hostess and cordial person. If she continues in her grandparent's footsteps, which I'm sure she is capable of, any hiker should feel fortunate to stay at Woods Hole Hostel.
One of the most memorable stays on my thru-hike!
My wife and I stayed at Woods Hole on our thru hike this year. They had been open about one month at that time. We absolutely loved it! Great atmosphere, wonderful people, and outstanding food!
Thanks everyone for such kind words. Opening the article that Matt Gentry and Sharla Bardin did on us was like opening a Christmas present. Michael and i are doing well. For those who were here in the summer, we continue to grow and make changes. Michael finally convinced me to turn our bedroom into a yoga/massage studio.. so that we can do yoga with hikers in any kind of weather.. including the winter weather that is quickly approaching (we had our first official snow day today). Michael and another hiker.. who ended up living with us for 6 weeks.. two fly.. built a garden in our barren front yard.. which we never grassed over. He is also working on a clay oven in our back yard for my famous bread and pizzas. We are so excited about the north bound season. The winter time is quiet and romantic. Surprisingly, we continue to see an occasional thru hiker and section hiker.. I keep feeling like we have seen everyone, but they keep coming.
Please come for a visit.. and stay in touch

I can't wait to stay there!
I'll be in the area around mid April. I had read the Hostel is not open til May? Does anyone know if the hostel is open mid April? Thanks for the info....tenlots
I stopped there in '99. I was cold, wet, and miserable.
Highpockets invited me in for a bowl of soup and to dry out around the stove. After a couple of hours, I was ready to resume walking.
It was a positive boost to my outlook that day and I was grateful for it.
I'm glad to see that things are going well and hope to stop by again.
Hi Smoky
Thanks.... you will be happy to know that Highpockets is alive and well in Florida. He is unable to make trips to Woods Hole because of his health... but he is definately in our hearts... check out our website if you want to see some of what we are up to now.... things have changed.. but now we are able to be here year round.. hurray.
