Odd, I've always thought people that say "Christmas Lights Suck"...suck. To each his own, I suppose. Merry Christmas!

    There's gotta be a 220v/120v stepdown transformer around somewhere. . . . ask around. . . .

So wire two of them together in series and they will get 110v each.

They just finished an installation transition over here....You have better odds of having someone give you O-Neg blood in downtown Kirkuk than a transformer!!

Here, we refer to it as the "Annual Battle of the Lights". Each night, I grimly join the fight to keep the dang things lit and otherwise working, through monsoons (December is one of our rainy periods. While I think the flashes and sparks are pretty, the interior lights flickering and occasionally blowing the breakers is annoying), blown fuses on the strands, broken or
spontaneously missing bulbs, and the occasional string that quits for no discoverable reason.

This year, however, the lights have escalated the conflict to a new level. They melted the GFI in the garage, effectively killing the majority of the display, but which also shuts off the outlets in both bathrooms. I replaced the GFI, only to discover that the damage is somewhere downstream of it. I've retaliated by calling in mercenaries, er, an electrician; I'm on standby, hopefully for some time this year.

Some day, the lights will get me. I hope the legends of Christmas Light
Valhalla are true. There, I will fight the lights valiently through eternity.

    Default Merry Christmas !!

Well, Christmas lights are certainly not the "Reason for the Season"; but I think they're nice.

Christmas shopping... Now, that's another story.

How is it possible to buy brand new lights and test them in the store, take them home, carefully stretch them out, test them again, put them on the tree, carefully hide the wires (they only had lights with white wires).

    DRUM ROLL!!!!

    Only half of them work.

I love lights on trees though. And on the jeep... Actually pretty neat. When people decorate their houses like that though, it makes me want to vomit.
