    Default Food bag suggestions

I'm looking for a durable, see thru food bag that'll hold 4-5 days worth of food.

I've worn holes in 2 mesh bags with drawstrings - nice but not really designed for the weight of several days worth of food.

I don't like opaque bags because I'd rather not dump out my bag or feel around for a few minutes to find something.

    Any suggestions?

10-K, you might check out the Platypus water tanks. http://www.rei.com/product/768127 There are several sizes. Dual purpose too. They used to make a bag for food but I haven't seen one in a long time. This is not rodent proof. The stainless steel food bags are easy to see through.

Build one out of cuban fiber. That stuff is translucent, probably enough to do what you want.

Make it clear so to scare them with ingredient lists full of artificial flavorings, preservatives and "filler".

Loksak Opsak is clear and odorproof.

This allows me to avoid food odors in my pack and in the "bear bag".

A solution to finding a clear bag such as a clear drybag http://www.cascadedesigns.com/SealLi...ee-Bag/product maybe you could use a 1 to 2 gal. Zip-loc inside a regular stuff sack

My gray silnylon stuff sack is just translucent enough to see what's in there.

Ziploc makes large storage bags. The one I use is 15"x15" I have carried food for 7 days and 6 nights in it. It has a double loc and a carrying handle that can be used to hang the bag from. I've gotten, as a guess, 60 days trail use out of mine and it is still usable, no holes. I got mine at Walmart. I have seen them at K-Mart and Gander Mountain. I will say that sometimes I find that sealing the bag up is a bit of a nuisance. It is water tight keeps odors in and you can see whats in there.
    Alcohol was involved!

I've actually got a box of those. Well, it's a box containing 3 very large ziplocks - one big enough for a pack liner!

I've ordered some heavier mesh bags from Granite Gear. They have a solid bottom too so maybe they'll hold up better.
