(Back from the Rockies Ruck and food shopping. What to do with a bunch of leftover boxed red wine? Something like this and simmer a bunch of meat, veggies, 'shrooms and onions in said red wine. The girlfriend will be eating well tonight. I didn't hang around a hiking BBS looking for her, either. )

A lot of women wear make up. It makes us look quite a bit nicer than when we dont wear it. (Especially us Gingers who look like Chemo-patients with our stupid red eyelashes). However, spending 5 months hiking and living from a backpack makes us rather not bother with the keeping-good-looking business.

Get to know people before you judge (I'm not saying you're someone who judges right off..I dont know you : ] )... you've probably realized that the better you know people, the better they look to you (as long as that knowing involves liking). I think it's better that we look like am SdHfIaT when we're hiking, it lets us know that the people who bother talking to us, arent only talking to us because they like the way we look. (& really, with the days in between showers, the long hours sweating and hiking, and wearing the same outfit everyday.. are you expecting that we're going to look like beautiful Roman goddesses, recently descended from the heavens?)

Well, I've met a lot of "movie star" and "super model" types over the decades. What I keep imagining these days are "earthy" friendly fellow hikers, that can appreciate the changes decades --and/or Gods -- have wrought.
