    Default Sepsis

Does anyone here ever had or have ever known anyone who has had this type of infection. Someone very close and dear to me is in ICU with it as we speak and from what I am understanding there is a 50/50 chance he could die. Does anyone here have any expierences?

Sepsis is a blood infection and makes people very sick. It can be very difficult to get under control. Older folks (over 55) are usually the most vulnerable, however it is still very dangerous for anyone. I know someone who is paralysed for the chest down who gets this type of bacterial infections frequently. They are getting harder for the DRs. to control. They told her that eventually it would probably take her life because of her condition.

All that being said I'm sure you're friend will be fine. I'll keep him in my prayers.

    I hope you are right!
He is in his late 60s and a diabetic. They don't know what is causing the infection and they are also having to keep him sedated because he is disoriented and thrashes around, so he can't tell them where it hurts.
    I'm worried!

I am also a nurse and have to deal with this fairly regularly. As stated it is and can be a very serious condition. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me or Scooby.

I have been through sepis myself. Yes, It can be very lifethreating. Lucky for me the doctors put me on major antibiotic ivs for weeks until I got over it. I am missing about 3 -4 feet of bowel and still have some nerve damage in my legs, but as you can see I am still alive.

Wish your friend alots of luck and a speeding healing.

We got an AWESOME update today!!:

We can rejoice! Pastor Davenport's situation has now been downgraded to "Stable". They have removed the ventilator, and he is out of the sedation and is coherent and aware of his surroundings. He still has some pneumonia and sepsis but will be moved to a private room soon. Praise God! They still don't know the source of the infection, but hear this, people, GOD ANSWERS PRAYER!

CONTINUE TO PRAY, DON'T STOP NOW!!!
