Water Status - Neel's Gap to Franklin, NC

Heading out to the trail on Saturday. Anyone have any info about the water north of Mountain Crossings? Specifically, what is flowing?

Also, the weather this week has rain forecast for Saturday through Monday. Think that will be enough water to get things flowing again or is it just too dry?

I heard as of yesterday 9/24 the NC section between Bly Gap and Winding Stair Gap water was flowing at the shelters, may be a slow flow, but flowing

hikers reported Hog Pen to be dry. spring at Cheese Factory is also reported as just mud. Shelters reportedly still have water, you just have to be patient.

I hiked Unicoi to Neels last weekend. From Neels to Hogpen was dry, but there was a slow flow at Hogpen. After that there was good water at Low Gap and Chattahoochee Gap. Between Chattahoochee and Unicoi there were several, slow sources. We saw a lot of rain Saturday night and Sunday, so perhaps that helped.

I did a loop that included some of that section this past weekend. Carters Gap Shelters had water, but Big Springs Shelter was dry.

once you get to low gap you should be fine, neels to hogpen was sketchy.
