According to a couple of references I looked at the correct spelling is Smoky. However, Smokey is a variant that is also listed. Some words it's alright to misspell.
Notice I typed alright vice all right. That's a word that some still argue about the correct spelling. Yet there are many words where all and (fill in the blank) have been contracted to make a word, i.e. almost, also....

I am looking out over a light dusting (.25")of snow here in Grassy Gap, 16 trail miles north of Springer.
Yesterday it was snowing on the trail here for the first time this season. I was out on my daily walk and on my return from Blackwell Creek I ran into a through hiker wearing shorts. He, like me had no idea it would be snowing when we started earlier in the morning.
