I hope they don't cut a deal on the more severe charges. There's no reason to with video evidence.
Also, with all the people on Whiteblaze who openly state that they carry handguns on the AT, how lucky were these punks that they weren't shot to death?
3 punks 6 bullets plenty of taxpayer money saved and problem solved. The national publicity from the shooting would have done more to discourage this behavior than 10 such trials that make only the local papers.

This makes for a good reminder of WHY I carry a handgun when hiking. Bet a lot of locals would be outraged and ready to lynch the two hikers had they been armed and killed these punks. Too bad they weren't.

It's very rare that the crime of assault is the first thing that an individual commits. Unfortunately, a simple assault can turn into a murder.
I consider these three stooges lucky, even if they get the full sentence for the charges filed against them.
God, being the ultimate Judge, will judge correctly. It's not too late for these clowns to turn their lives around.
