Thread: Snow in WNC

  1. #1

    Default Snow in WNC

The mountaintops here in Asheville are covered in snow. Above about 4000 feet is a decent amount of snowfall. It started here last night with some sleet and freezing rain. The clouds just lifted out and the mountaintops are beautiful. Im sure Marta will have some cool pictures from here hike.

It was that way from Neel's to Unicoi as well. We camped half way between the two Friday night. Winds were above 40 mph and snow. It was great!

5 inches at Beech Gap on the BMT. Feathered out around 3000 ft.
The trail was here before we arrived, and it will still be here when we are gone...enjoy it now, and preserve it for others that come after us

It was gorgeous last weekend. Walking in a winter wonderland, for sure. Even that dreadful mousepit, Spring Mountain Shelter, looked picture-postcard cute in the snow.

Drove through Davenport Gap Saturday en-route to the Foothills Trail and noted the white stuff - beautiful! Sunday morning in Upland SC was quite frosty.
