UPDATE: Just talked to RockHound, and he's in a pretty good amount of pain today. He says he didn't sleep at all last night, because they kept waking him up to weigh him and take his blood pressure. He's not too impressed with the night shift nurses--no bedside manner. They told him to keep it down because apparently, he was groaning while they were draining his chest tube. Hopefully, they will take out that last tube today and his pain will be able to greatly subside.

    Peace,

I'm not impressed with any nurses nowadays. Use to be they were hot and wore tight white skirts w/ a sexy hat; now they just wear loose pajamas and they are fat

Not exactly conducive for creating a pleasant environment for guys who are suffering.

I'm back starting to give the nurses and doctors a hard time so they're ready to boot me out of the hospital today. Just wanted to thank everyone for the cards, phone calls, thoughts, prayers etc..... I would not wish what I just went through on anybody. Realizing that so many people have it so much worse really put things in perspective though. It'll still be about a 3 month recovery time before I strap on a pack again but I am hoping to be back on the trail by July. The thru-hike is done but I plan on hiking some up in New England by then. For the next month I'll be recouperating at Standing Bear Farm. It's one of my favorite spots on the trail and Curtis and Maria have some big hearts. I'm very thankful towards them and to Lonewolf who will be driving me down there later today. Even though I will not be hiking it will be good to be around the hiking community.

Rockhound, we shared the cabin at Standing Bear back around the beginning of March... sorry to hear of your ordeal, but very glad to hear you're up and around now. Get well soon, and all my best to Curtis & family.
