Default Off the chart NuB question about my pack

I'm new to the hiking/backpacking scene and recently purchased a day pack from The North Face. At the bottom of my pack are 3 loops. One loop on the right side and two smaller loops on the left side. What are these loops for? Why aren't there 2 on each side?

That's what I was thinking. Doesn't really explain the two on one side question but it could just be for placement preference. Also would probably fit trekking poles.

Two on one side for the head of the axe (either side of the shaft). One loop on the other end for the shaft.
