I wasn't aware Trailspace had a feature that would look up the price of a product at several different online vendors. If they do, I'd compare it and spadout. I know the Trailspace forum is pretty lame.

If that is your budget and thats what you have would go with a REI flash, either the 50 or 65. Light, cheap and a great bag.

Gossamer Gear or Fanatic Fringe....will force you to carry less since they are both ultralight...that'll save you money! And the bags are very low price.

Yea, they sure do, and they are very good/quick with updating prices. I think it's their bread and butter. Trailspace also has a lot of reviews and and some pictures of gear in actual use.
    Check it out.

I've always been partial to Granite Gear packs, so I would wander over to the WhiteBlaze "for sale" forums and grab this one:
    http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/show...r-Trail-Medium

I'd also watch the forum for a few weeks -- I've had some very good luck getting bargains from really wonderful people. eBay is riskier, but is worth a look. For what it is worth, I've had very good luck with lightly used gear -- so much so that I prefer it over new (it is very easy to find out the strong and weak points of a pack that is a couple of years old).

    Good luck!

If it were for a thru-hike and I had the appropriate other gear, the ULA CDT. If that were too small for my needs the next size up. They make quality lightweight and functional gear for a very good price.

I would keep checking the used gear forums and see what I could get from there.
Some knew me as Piper, others as just Diane.

I'd buy ebay number 320739588549 because that's the pack I already have and find it to be the best thing since slice bread.

Oh poop, I just realized it's the short torso version. Sorry about that (unless you're short).

If it fits well that's a nice pack. I have had a GG Nimbus Ozone for years and still use it and love it. The Blaze has recieved excellent reviews. My pack carries up to 40# very comfortably. If you are looking to carry a bigger load, I would wait and find a better load hauler. I had one of those jansport packs 7-10 years ago and it did not carry a large load well at all. I have a Mystery Ranch now and also have a dana design pack, they carry great expensive but worth it for bigger loads and you can always look around for good deals on them-ebay, craigslist, etc.

basegear.com carries granite gear and has a 20% discount on first purchase if you sign up for their newsletter. They have a few sales going on right now as well as free shipping over $49.

I'd buy used. Either Zpacks or ULA. Eventually I'd like to make my own, but it wouldn't be to save money.
