    Default TRAIL SHOES/NB 871 vs. 955

Time for me to get a new pair of trail shoes, having worn out my NB 806s. Looking at either NB 871 or 955. The former are more comfortable (and certain not to last) whereas the latter are sturdier. Anybody got any first-hand experience and an opinion on either the 871 or the 955? Thanks!

    Default NB 871 vs 955

Have no experience with either 871 or the 955's but like you I owned the 806's and liked them. I would like to buy another pair of 806's but think they discontinued them. NB absolutely confuse's me. They just keep going with the numbers and I find the fits vary so much that I hesitate to buy over the net. A pair of 608's 11 regular fit me fine but the 806's I need a EE. I believe that the 807's must be the replacement for the 806's but not sure. If anyone can help us both out there, please do.

Yup, i feel yer pain - 807s are a replacement for 806 albeit a much narrower one. i too wear reg size in most shoes but go w EE in NB in order to get wider forefoot. i'm looking at 955 and 871 cause i'm an over-supinator. BTW Zappos.com has high prices but posts customer reviews of almost all models as well as many specs not found elsewhere. so if ya cant find a place to try on ya can read what's posted there.

If your a NB fan, try the dunham waffle stomper. They are made my NB and are great hiking shoes. I hiked from New Jersey to Maine in them and really liked them. They are light and have good foot support. They also have a vibram sole.

Finish Line has the NB 807 on sale right now for $49. I have the same problem with NB shoes being too narrow. Finish Line doesn't carry EE or EEEE sizes. I ordered a pair from Sierra Trading Post for $54.95, they have EE.
