    Default Stove - which one?

My only question is I'm waiting breathlessly for what stove I must carry to HMHDI. I suspect alcohol (in which case, I must reluctantly but decidedly jettision my canister and white gas-burning stoves) but I eagerly await your pronouncement.

Once this clarification is complete, I suggest contacting Stephen Colbert. He may not be into hiking but we can all agree that if he was, the HMHDI fits his persona perfectly.

Since you must carry 20 lbs (no more. no less), I suggest bringing this one:

Did I misread something? I thought the rule was exactly 15 miles per day, no more no less even if this occurs while crossing a stream or road.

Thanks for the update Mags. Everything I ever needed to know about backpacking I learned from your site and from Wizards of the PCT.

Whew! I happen to have one of those - a white gas burner just like the photo.

Of course, I usually only bring it car-camping....
