Default Partner for VA section hikes

    Hey Whiteblaze,
I want to do some 3-4 day hikes through central VA this Jan/Feb/March. I live in Richmond and my job is really flexible now, so I don't have specific dates in mind. I'm thinking of starting in Waynesboro and either hiking north or south. I spent the summer hiking the AT (so am experienced) and I like hiking alone, but it really is more fun to hike with someone else. I'm thinking I'll hike about 10 miles a day since days are shorter in winter, but I'm flexible.
If you are interested, PM me and we'll figure out details.

    jlo,

I am scheduling a SOBO March 30 - April1 from 522 area to 211 Thornton gap. I did the Harper's Ferry to 522 piece last Sept.
I live in the Sandston area and a member of the ODATC. Is this something you might be interested in doing? I am working on doing all of the AT in Virginia over the next few years.

    mefishn and jlo,
I have done rockfish gap to harpers ferry. Would be interested in hiking any of the central or southern portions of VA. I too am working my way through Va.

    Furlough,

If you were to pick a VA section which would you want to do? NOBO or SOBO? How many days? Daily mileage?

One day you may just have to use a very large hamster ball to travel through a populated bear area.

    Hi Furlough and Mike,
I am wanting to finish VA in May, going from Bland to Troutville, and a second trip Troutville to Waynesboro. That wraps up VA for me since I did Shenandoahs after trip south from Harper's Ferry with Mike in fall. I do about 15 miles per day, can do a little more if trail isn't too brutal. My travel times are very flexible, so I can go in May or June. Doing NH in July, Either of you up for VA in May?

    takethisbread,
I am also planning on Erwin to Damascus sometime March, was looking at 4th-17th, although am flexible. Also, would like to get to Sam's Gap, about an additional 25 miles. PM me if interested in carpooling from the NE; share a shuttle; or spot cars at either end or in shorter sections.

Any chance you wanna head out for three nights. I'm trying to put a dent into the shennies tomorrow until Friday afternoon (I'm about 65 miles in from Rockfish Gap. I gotta be back in time for the lion king at 8pm. I'm not sure what your conditioning is but I'd like to put in 60 miles. This is definitely a long shot. Email me at [email protected]
