    Default Trip planning help!

I have been planning my section hike today and i came across a site that you may or may not know about.. either way i figured i would post it here cause i know it helped me! all you do is pick your start point (shelter, gap, road crossing, etc) and you pick your end point and it gives you the total distance in between. i found it very helpful!

Thanks for the info teen_hiker. This is helpful. I just wish there was a site like this that also included elevation changes from point to point. To me it's more about the up hill hiking than the distance. Having both would be great. Anyone know of a site like this?

Another site that also gives mileage between points on the AT is:

I've seen a couple of these sites before but you can only ball park the elevation between two points by adding them all. It would be cool to have a site that calculated it for you between two points just like the mileage sites above. I've hiked the smokey mountains and was surprised how much work it was to get from Mollies Ridge to Derrick Knob when they are almost the same elevation. It was more about the elevation changes between the two sites than the distance. The distance is easy if you take out the elevation issues.
