Default Adding Straps to a Backpack

I have a Golite Pinacle, I can fit all I need in my pack but it is really crammed the seams are really stretched my total weight including the pack is only 30lbs including 2 liters of water and my food, I guess I just have some bulky items. I was thinking of just putting some straps on near the bottom so I can carry my BA Flycreek tent on the outside. Has anyone added straps to a pick if so. Should I be using a specialty thread?

don't most people cut straps off the pack...they weigh so much...

Seriously I second the polyester thread.
Take almost nothing I say seriously--if it seems to make no sense what so ever it's probably meant as a joke....but do treat your water!
