Default Best tasting burger take-out joints in GA and NC/TN ?

When you want to take a few for the trail for the rocket fuel they are, which burger shops have the best burgers to-go in the southern trail towns?

Smoky Mountain Diner in Hot Springs. Get the hungry Hiker with fries and sweet tea. Not to be missed!

Ive 'heard' that the best burger on the trail South of Damascus is at Brown's Gap. Unfortunately, they are only served there for 3 days in the spring.

I have to agree on smoky mountain diner in hot springs! The hungry hiker is perfect after a hard day.

What, no good burgers to go in Hiawassee or Franklin? I guess there are plenty of chain restaurants for fast food in those towns but are there any mom and pop places that are favorites?

Well, when you are hungry and in need of real food, just about anywhere is great. In Hot Springs, besides the diner (which has great pie too), the local pub "Rock Bottom" has a great buffalo burger and the beer is COLD!

If you can get to Johnson City, Tennesseeeeee, there's a Five Guys there. I only went there because I had a friend giving a ride. But you can hitch or shuttle from Erwin too, with a little effort.
