    Thumbs up 2012 hiker sightings

We did some trail work today North of Hughes Gap. Kincora brought the following hikers along:

    Patches
The Roaming Dude - dedicated hike for the free state project
    Mom
    Chef Beard
    Murdock
    B-Man
    Veggie

Thanks to their help we were able to complete this long relocation, blaze it and open it. So, yes, this means the climb up Roan is now about 3/4 mi longer . . . not quite as steep, but longer.

    Also saw wandering by:

    Nor'easter (WB Sears)

    Good Luck everyone!

Just to let everyone know: when I encounter someone on the trail, I ask their permission to post here. When you meet a hiker you might also ask them if they mind. There might be a few that don't want their whereabouts known.

Yesterday, did some trail work N of 19E. The following hikers wandered by:

    Good Deeds
    Mellow Yellow
    Johannes
    Hobo
    Instigator
    Expediter
    Foster

I'm sure they were all glad to be past the Roan Highlands. It has been cold the last couple of nights.

miquest2012 - there wasn't too much rock work on this relo. The closer to Cloudland we get, however, there will be much rock work involved.

Hiking north of Front Royal I met Lorax at Jim & Molly Denton Shelter, his start date was March 2nd. He's blazing the trail averaging 37 miles per day through Virginia.

I also met Groundhog, another thru hiker who left Springer Feb.22nd at Mosby Campsite just south of the Denton Shelter.

I saw them both Saturday 6/9/12 1pm at the Stratton Mountain Summit in Vermont. Stopped to give them some extra food I had, wished them well and parted ways. They both looked like they were doing well and in good spirits.

    ::Wayless Ways:: ???

Just wondering if anyone has run into a buddy of mine.. I started the trail with him on 4/29 and did the section from the
Approach Trail to Neel's Gap. His
    name is Caleb (Wayless Ways).

He should be North of Mt. Rogers around the 500 mile mark. Last I heard, he was hanging with a small group of fellow thru hikers
