Damascus to Hamburg?

I am thru-hiking this year, but need to get from Damascus to Hamburg, PA after Trail Days, to meet up with a friend a friend of mine. We will then hike south towards Damascus at which time I need to get up to Hamburg again to continue my northward trek. It's 460 miles, so would be a heck of a hitch. I am having trouble finding trains or flights, but am considering seeing if I could rent a car for it. Can't seem to find car rental places, though. Suggesstions?
