Default I would love to talk to you!

    Hi,

My name is Maggie Friedline and I am a senior at Warren Wilson College is Asheville, NC, majoring in sociology. I am currently working on my senior thesis and I hoping to write about the experiences of female thru-hikers on the AT. The problem is I need to interview women who have thru-hiked the AT but I am not sure how to contact them, this forum seems pretty promising! Are there any female thru-hikers who would be willing to talk to me (either through phone, email, skype, or in person if you live nearby)?. I wouldn't be doing the actually interviews until the beginning of next year but I need to make sure people will talk to me before I plan out the whole research process!

    Thanks!
    Maggie

    Hello Maggie,
I met Huff and Puff last March in the Smokies. Looks like they just finished at Khatadin last week. They might remember me as trail name toboggan.

Wow! I didn't expect responses so quickly, thanks everyone! I was trying to get a idea of if people would be willing to talk to me and I am feeling pretty confident now. Spirit Walker and Zipper, I will probably contact you later in the year, and chiefiepoo and aquonehostel, thanks for the suggestions!

I think what you'll find is that, if there's anything hikers love to do almost as much as hike, it's talk about hiking. If you check Trailjournals.com for journals by female hikers, you can email them through the guest book and see if they'd be willing to talk to you.
    If not NOW, then WHEN?

Hi, maggie! I haven't thru hiked yet, but I want to wish you luck with your project. My daughter is also a senior at WWC and we're planning our thru-hike for this summer. I just read Jennifer Pharr Davis' book, Becoming Odyssa, and it was great. I hope you'll be able to contact her.
