Congress voted to spend 11 Billion today (4-25) to keep the USPS from closing offices.

    A. The 11 billion is basically a refund of overpayments made in prior years to a federal retirement fund. The Postal Service, an independent agency of government, does not receive taxpayer money for its operations, but is subject to congressional control.

    B. It was a Senate bill passed and has not gone to the House.

The list of proposed closures is at this link from USPS.

It might have been helpful to add a sort by zip code, but you could copy it into Excel and sort if needed.

This post raised some concern since i have been planning on using the Linden, VA post office for my section hike. I called, and rest assured, this post office is still open.

The U.S. Postal Service said on Wednesday that it is abandoning for now its plan to close thousands of post offices in rural locations and instead will shorten their hours of operation.
