    Default SNP Memorial Day weekend

How buggy is the AT in SNP likely to be over Memorial Day weekend? We contemplate a few days of hiking that area; do we need to pack full mosquito gear?

    Thanks.

Swarms of tourons everywhere. Unfortunately, they're a federally protected species and its illegal to kill them.

No . Bug juice is really quite enough. Now about them invasive tourons , the majority won't stray far from their metal boxes.
Getting lost is a way to find yourself.

I keep hearing that, but has anyone actually called the park and asked what the local regulations are?

Just don't whack them with your flip flop. Some people seem to think it is disgusting.

While most of the tourons stick to their cars and the facilities & overlooks along Skyline Drive, I would expect to find more hikers in the back country than normal on a holiday weekend. Just keep that in mind when deciding when and where to camp.
