Before my hike on the AT in 2011 for 1500 miles, I handmade a piece of equipment that I cannot live without anymore while sleeping in the backcountry. Many might think it is unnecessary, but I encourage anyone who is interested to check out what I have done.

Great idea. Here in Rockford, Illinois (sock monkey capitol of the world) the sock monkey has made it's way into various designs including a pillow. Easy to make, a fun DIY project for the whole family.

Speedy is doing well. We are talking about getting another shot at completion in 2018. I am so excited to see that I am remembered by someone! Chainsaw, so great to see your Katahdin photo here on the site. We tried to flip-flop, but Irene was a real big problem for me as I was about to head into Vermont and I decided to go home after 6 months.
