Default Muskrat Creek Shelter Plane Crash

On my recent section hike, I stayed at Muskrat Creek Shelter (early march). After I set up my camp, I went back south and took a blue blaze trail to get some good pictures of a sunset. While on the blue blaze, I noticed a plane wreck about 50 yards north of the trail. I didn't have too much time to investigate as the sun was already set and the trail was poorly marked making it hard to follow at night. Does anybody know anything about this crash?

Small plane crashed there in the 70's according to the book " Hikes in the Southern Appalachians" ( second link).
