    Default Drop cloth for tarp?

I was wondering if a plastic drop cloth for a tarp over the hammock. I was thinking of reinforcing the plastic sheet with duct tape along the edges and diagnally. Any thoughts or experiences?
We had so much trouble finding a flat place to pitch a tent in Georgia, I'm thinking hammocks are the way to go.

It works. Are you going to set up a ridgeline to throw the tarp over?

Grandma Gatewood hiked the trail using a plastic shower curtain. So yeah.....

I say don't be a tightwad on your shelter. Trust me on this one.

Though I now have a silnylon tarp, which is lighter, I've used 4 mil plastic sheeting many times. Works fine.

I think a plastic drop cloth would work great, and the Tarp will only be noisy if you don't secure it properly.

I used a drop cloth for years as a ground cloth for my tent. Last month, I bought a length of nylon material from JoAnn's fabrics. The width was just right and I had it cut to my tent's length. Worked well so far. One advantage is it's easily washable.

Thank you everyone for the input. Wish there was a "like" button.
I have never even slept in a hammock.
I'm now thinking a poncho/tarp may be a better option.
