It's Done!
Just finished sewing a 1 person silnylon tarp tent! All thats left to do is seam seal.

Nice job Mike kind of open at one end, have you considered a vestibule or half door for inclement weather?

-I will be using Sil Net seam seamer to waterproof the seams.
-It weighs 1lb 9oz w/o stakes, looking for some lightweight ones. Its a kit I bought from Quest Outfitters, took about 30 hrs to cut and sew.
-No real vestibule, but the door end has a good amount of overhang. The door and foot ends both have silnylon flaps that velcro up for bad weather. The eaves/wings can be brought down to the ground to wrap up even tighter.
I'll post again after the maiden voyage!
I have a new tarp that I'm about to seam seal soon. I picked up some Dow Corning 734 flowable sealant online. The guy who owns Yamamountaingear.com suggested it to me. He said the flowable silicone will go down into the stitches better and give a cleaner look. I haven't used it yet, so I'll post back my results after I get it sealed.

real nice. my gf wants to sew us a 2 person version of that. go get yourself a chunk of tyvek and cut it to fit so you don't have ground sheet sticking out past the overhangs (sure you know that but just in case)

Just got back from 3 nights on the Pemi Loop in NH. Tent worked great, even though I spaced and left the stakes at home. Sticks and rocks worked just as well. By the 3rd night very easy to set up and take down. Conditions were mild no wind or rain. But sprayed it with the hose good at home, no leaks.
Yes zipper sewn in a semicircle makes the arch and scored some tyvek for ground cloth before the trip.

I like that tent! I was thinking of picking up the 2 person pattern and modifying it a little bit so that I could have more of a door. But first I have to practice my sewing!

The Bilgy is a nice shelter. I have made both the 1 person and 2-person. The 2 person is especially roomy inside the net tent and the vestible area.
Nicely done. Looks very good. If you have a chance could you post some lessons learned from making it that you wish you knew before you started?
