This weekend, the heat index is to be 105F+ near the world famous Doyles Hotel in Duncannon, PA. How hot is it were you are at?

Um I would think 108 is expected...you live in AZ after all. Not to be rude but that is void of vital information...as you live there by choice. MNS thank you very much for letting Hikers know how hot it is...on trail let alone the risks they make by hiking. Would suggest to all hikers regardless if they live in the desert or not. Hunker down somewhere cool if you can hopefully find such a location. Drink large amounts of water as needed. As well if you need to make those big miles as well are feel the need to. Hike during the night pref with friends or fellow hikers...it may not be cooler but the sun wont be at your back.

Don't hike during the heat of the day if you can help it (noon - 3pm), but find some shade and use as little energy as possible. Stay hydrated!

68 degrees here, expecting a high of 84. This is the season to be in Montana. Right after the seven months of winter and right before the whole place is a smoldering mess.

Yesterday our thermometer (has a reader outside under the porch ceiling, in the shade) indicated 107.5 around 3 pm. Today it's "only" in the 90's. Dew point is very high, though, so t'storms are very likely to bubble up soon.

And thus why I will never live in the northwest again. Spent the longest year of my life in Portland Oregon. Nearly went mad in that weather. Some of us simply cannot endure the almost-constant rain, cool temps and overcast. More power to those who can. Many can't endure the heat and humidity and winters that we have......but I love every moment of all of our seasons.

It's very pleasant in San Diego. People from elsewhere call this the desert.

In Dahlonega it's 100 F right now. That's crazy for North Georgia!

This sucks - I spent the weekend soaking in Seed Lake (Talullah River) - - headed to Vermont and New Hampshire next week - - hiking from Rutland, Vt through NH to Maine - - hope that it it is at least cool and breezy for me.

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

It's not like that here... I believe that your memory is accentuating the negative.
There's lots of sunny weather, especially in the summer, and it rains a lot less (39"/year) than it does on the horribly hot east coast.
Perfect hiking weather. We went out Sunday for 13 miles in the Cascade foothills. Ideal hiking temps in the 60's. When it does rain it's more of a mist; we rarely even need raincoats.
Just as well that it's cloudy, otherwise I would have skin cancer by now.

Air temp is in the upper 90's today, but the Lake MI water temperature is 70. We have a park where you hike about 1/2 mile over hills and through the trees to get to an isolated beach completely surrounded by towering sand dunes. Even on a holiday you can have it mostly to yourself.

We have been in the 100s for some time now. It was 109 a week ago already. We will not see any relief til October. I kind of like it.
