Okay, it's 11:30pm here, about 35 degrees and the ice on the river only melted a couple of days ago. Someone just cranked down the river at almost full throttle with only their running lights on.

    I love this place!

Ain't never been high on the trail. ( If I had been, then I would have walked straight off of M.T. race in the dark )

Though I was drunk once at the Dennytown road campsite...that was one of my stores of true trail magic.

i have yet to use the down pants, bought them the beginning of the season anticipating a hard winter, but it hasnt been cold enough to bring them anywhere this year. i think the south got worse weather than we did this year

Uhm. Let's see, I think the highest I've been on a hiking trip was a shade under 13,000 feet. Made myself horribly sick from lack of acclimation.

Oh, wait, you were punning, weren't you? I won't discuss whether I've been high on the trail. Except to say that I did a lot of hiking in the 1970s.

The cold is nothing that a five pound cheesecake can't cure...

    Thanks again Lou!

Unsolicited advice: you will not need them by the time you get here. Truly.

now follow my advice, and curse me during the last 17 degree night of the year
