The most memorable version for me of this was in Jaws. Unfortunately I could find it on you tube.

Maybe I'll get out and try to make a nice surprise for some of you guys when you make it north. Anywhere between DWG and Manchester Center is manageable as a weekend trip. It'll have to be a "wave as you go by" or "feed you / buy you a drink / give you a present / shuttle you somewhere" sort of thing, because I know better than to try to hike with someone who's got their trail legs. You won't want me slowing you down.
Another Kevin, I'll hike with you anytime...I'm a prospective weekender. No Long Distance in my immediate future.

BB, the other day you wanted an example of the difference between experience and wisdom (learning from your mistakes and learning from others mistakes).

TW's canoe trip made me think of another. I had the bright idea many years ago of getting a running start with my wife in the canoe, sorta like a bobsled or luge. Needless to say what works on land does not work so well on water. It was on a lake at her family reunion, and they all enjoyed it (not so much for her).

You missed my joke after you posted yours.
I am Scottish, Irish, English, German, and a whole bunch of other pieces (including a daub of Native American) in that order. Mostly Scottish though.
