    Its funny, Dad and I were just talking about this and we both agree that with a fire starter (matches lighter whatever), snare wire, and an axe (Iltis Oxhead), we could probably survive in the bush anywhere in North America

    For me, the piece of gear I couldn't do without are 2 things- my really light hiking poles- they save my ankles and help on the uphills too!! The other thing is my comfy hiking boots...with sore feet, you aren't going very far.
