Looking at the balance sheet and income statements for the past 2 years would tell you pretty much everything you needed to know about whether or not it would be a good investment at that price, or if it were overpriced.

Unless you just wanted the location.

The food is good. The pizza is very good (it's hard to mess up pizza these days). The service is good.
I'm not really a hiker, I just play one on White Blaze.

But does it make money, is it growing, is it contracting, what are the margins? etc. etc.

Food trucks are all the rage around here. And they're not serving carnival food either- really top quality international gourmet items. Yum! I've become a big fan.

Now Quinceys Pizza sounds like a good candidate for Chef Robert Irvine's show "Restaurant Impossible". That's where he comes in and transforms failing restaurants with a complete remake and menu improvement.

I think it's OK as a family restaurant/pizza place goes. If you wanted to remake it top notch go ahead. It wouldn't hurt anything.

Somewhat risky with a fine dining restaurant in Damascus already. Each town has only so much capacity for restaurants. Only a small percentage of the population will eat in a fine dining restaurant, that percentage is around 5 to 10% in a rural area and maybe 10 to 15% in a metropolitan area. It's common for restaurant owners to want to have a fine dining restaurant, but the customers want a casual dining restaurant. The customers always win that argument. The menu looks good overall, but those are just words on a menu. The execution of a menu can be all over the place in restaurants, with a great burger or something mediocre with the same description. Damascus has a population around 950 with Washington County at 54K. If 10% of the county ate there four times a year it would be less than 30 customers a day year round with a summer time tourist increase to maybe 120 people. The casual theme would probably have 4 times the covers per day. Stick with the casual theme.

I'm happy with the frozen custard place myself. You sure don't see many of those anymore.

LW, what kind of new business do you think would do well in Damascus? That is, if you were opening a business what would it be?

I'm doing research on starting a real shuttle service here in Erwin....

That's sad. Some of my best memories on the trail are from Quincy's. Myself and EtchaSketch scarfed down our own large pizzas in like 10 minutes, ani I hadn't even started hiking yet!
