Default Trail runners primarily for sand walking

Hello FT goers, or any trail goers for that matter,

Does anyone with experience on the FT (or any sandy terrains in general) have any recos for trail runners? I'm getting ready to run the length of the Ocala National Forest and when I walked it last year (well, 50 miles of it), I wondered if a particular shoe would handle the sandy terrain better than others. I was using some generic Asics t/r's.

    Thanks!

I like my New Balance MT610s for hiking around North FL.

Although I still use them in Florida, I find my Salomons to be a little too open meshed. The sand filters right into the toe box and my socks. Maybe something highly breathable but not mesh fabric? (oxymoron?)

I use NB 814's for all my hiking now. The mesh will collect some sand but I just dump it out. Hiking in wet marsh land makes them pretty nasty but I just try to wade through some clean water to wash them out and they dry pretty quick. Probably most any trail runner that fit you will do about the same as the NB.

The FT in Ocala is one of the few places where I feel safe going barefoot.
The trouble I have with campfires are the folks that carry a bottle in one hand and a Bible in the other.
You never know which one is talking.

    Better you than me, WM.

The mesh is one of the main dilemmas. It'll still be fairly warm here in early November, and to get a gore-tex type shoe would keep the sand out, but would def make my feet sweat. My gaiters will help, but I can't risk taking on all that sand and dirt and inviting blisters. I've learned a lot since my last jaunt in ONF; now, just mainly trying to figure if there's any traction type or shoe type that may do better in the copious sand found on the FT.......
