    Default Does this pack exist?

Ok does this pack exist. It must meet these requirements.

    1. Able to withstand a thru hike or long treks
    2. AT LEAST 40 liters of volume in the MAIN COMPARTMENT of the pack
    3. A frame (removable or otherwise)
    4. Under 2 lbs.

I know ULA packs and Gossamer Gear and Half Moon Designs. I am looking for anything different them those.

I would need a large and that is 2 lbs 7 oz. Also the small is still above 2 lbs. Thanks for the suggestion but looking for a lighter pack.

You think these aer good for a thru hike? They seem to be more suited for climbers. Do you have experience with them?

ah, i thought it was a bit under, my bad. it could be stripped out a bit by removing the bottom "straps" and even more if you didn't need the lid (removable without cutting). it's an option at least.

If money is no object, how about Zpacks? Thier cubin fiber packs are well under a pound for about a 40 L volume.

Ever so slightly over 2 lbs but a very nice pack. Saw this one in person at the ATKO last year at the makers display. Very nice and light with a V-stay frame. Keep in mind with the lighter the pack the lighter the maximum load you will be able to carry. If you pack heavy don't go too light on the pack. The Osprey Exos 46 is a nice pack also.

If you consider the foam slip to be a removable frame, the GoLite Jam would meet those requirements.

I use a moonbow gearskin and love it. I generally keep my setup in the UL range, but you can carry some crazy sized loads with this setup (for when hiking with kids, etc.). Mine weighs 24 oz and is bulletproof.

My pack is an Osprey Hornet 46. 23 oz and 46 liters, and comfortable with a frame.

Interesting; mine has been great but I haven't yet put it through that level of wear and tear.

Top compartment? Do you know something I don't? I just bought an Exo an it doesn't have a top compartment. It's a roll down and clip type closure. Great pack with a frame. 14 oz.

I thought my Exos 46 and 58 had removable top compartments; but I can't look now, so them to finance 2 new made in the USA packs by ULA. I was confused on fit when I got my Circuit, so I sent an email one night with a question. Casey got my phone number off the invoice, called my at home that night, had me send pics, called back, and walked me thru the set up. Now that is customer service. You don't get that from people sewing their gear somewhere in Asia.

Another option is a LuxuryLite pack...

Ugly as sin, but very, very comfortable, especially in hot weather.
    Don't take anything I say seriously... I certainly don't.
