As everyone might expect, I celebrate the ancient beginnings of this season the winter solstice in particular. The winter solstice along with the summer solstice, are worldwide celebrations. Civilizations for thousands of years have celebrated the rebirth of the sun at this time, marking the creation of a new year. It is no accident that Christmas and New Year are celebrated near this date, to mark the beginning of the celestial new year. The ancient traditions of the yule and the live evergreen tree are most important to me. There are lovely candles burning all over our house and good smells from the kitchen linger. My daughter hope that Santa Claus will come tonight. I love his origins in the tribal pre-christian traditions of northern Europe. Whatever religion you ascribe to, I hope that your evening and day are complete with a warm fire, nourishment, good health, friends, and family. Best wishes all .....
