Hey Wilson! Very cool! I was pretty darn good at F.O. I could hit anything and I got really good at determining the range. But, my main thing was navigating. I got a perfect 100 on the Army's 2nd hardest compass course. Thanks for wishing me luck on the trail...gonna need it. "DANGER CLOSE!!!"

"Men's Department" That's pretty good" had quite a chuckle when I heard that the first time (1963). My first ship was named after a Marine hero. Sergeant Duncan Mansfield. He was in a party of Sailors and Marines who on 16 Feb. 1804 boarded the USS Philadelphia in Tripoli Harbor and burned her to the waterline. The ship had been captured the previous October when it grounded in Barbary waters. Hence "... to the shores of Tripoli." My Brother-in-Law was a Hospital Corpsman attached to the Marines and I have a great respect for them.

no it wasnt the intent, thanks for the history lesson though. my point was the majority of us volunteerd for service and many people forget how they got the freedoms they so quickly complain about.

Yep , joined the RAF Regt (CR@P!!!!!!) in `88, then moved to army ( INF ) in 90.

Still in uniform now, but as a CFAV (cadet forces adult volunteer) present rank is a company sergeant major affiliated to the grenadier guards. Great fun , well worth the time and effort giving kids some direction and FUN in life.
