    Default Military service

    US Army Signal Corps -- 1952-54, and just missed being sent to the Korean war zone;

    Army chaplaincy -- 1967-85, with two tours in Vietnam.

    Retired as LTC (with twenty years) in 1985, so I have now been retired longer than I served on active duty.

    Very peaceful times though. Hats off to all; before, since, and to the south.

    I was 18,19 and 20 when I was an RTO in the infantry in Vietnam. Most of the guys I was with were in that same age range. I re-enlisted to go back to Vietnam but my request for transfer was denied. I was rip **** that I couldn't go back. Vietnam was a lot better, to me, than being back in the land of the big PX. I was more welcome in Vietnam than I was in the states.
