Default Best piece of gear you got in 2012

So what piece of gear do you consider your best purchase or gift in 2012?

    Mine is a tossup:

    Western Mountaineer bag
Newtrent charger for iPhone (thanks Chinmusic!)

PacerPoles -- I love using poles, but these are a totally different design which I've been dying to try.

PacerPoles were for Christmas; for all of 2012, I'll go with my Warbonett Blackbird which I got much earlier and which I love.

Zpack Arc-blast 13 oz. down from 74 oz on my Ospry Aether. Or the lighthart Cuben fiber scrap bag... Lots of new dry bags with lots of fabric leftover.

I had a huge year this year. I picked up a WM Alpinelite as a end of year bonus/ christmas present and my girlfriend got me a ULA circuit for my bday in November. I used both on a short 1 nighter but Im looking forward to getting out sometime in January as well.

I found a gently used WM Apache on craigslist for $150. Very comfy.

I had an incredible year finally getting the gear I wanted. ULA Circuit, Enlightened Equipment Revelation x 0 degree quilt, REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad, Trail Designs Fissure Ti-Tri Stove, Merrell Norsehund Beta Mid boots, Montbell Alpine Light Parka, Goosefeet Down pants and booties, Winter gaiters, Microspikes, Winter Mittens and a few odds and ends. I think I am finally done.

Well maybe a few more things next year.

My Cuben fiber zPacks Hexamid Twin Tarp with bathtub groundcloth and no netting for my shoulder season hikes. Saved me about a pound off my Lunar Solo and is large enough that I can forego a bivy sack.

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Solomon trail runners to replace my boots that were done in by the PA rocks. However, I did not buy much this year, so they arguably are my worst purchase as well (major fabric rips at less than 500 trail miles into the pair). No blisters though!

Poopsy scored a silk cashmere sweater for 3 dollars at Goodwill. A very nice mid-layer indeed
