Anyone know of any good trustworthy sites for clearance and or discount gear and clothing?

Sierra Trading Post is a good source for cheap gear. Just buy off season and watch the special sales. What most folks forget is that much of the high end gear on discount was the latest and greatest gear a few years ago. Fiding good socksis a challenge, most folks used merion smart wools and darn toughs and both arent on sale very often.

+1 on Sierra Trading Post. Sign up for their email, and you'll regularly get special coupons/discounts.

Steep and Cheap dot com, but you have to download the alerts to keep an eye out for the good stuff. Otherwise, you have to keep going to the site to see what the latest deal is. Lots of Oakley glasses, etc. that I couldn't care less about. Still, some good stuff.

Cabela's often has big sales. MEC has good prices for some gear, and great prices on a few things, and they do sales on top of that.

Most sites are safe if you use Paypal and you're smart about it. That means reading the description carefully and even printing a copy of it, making sure you file a Paypal dispute if you don't get your item within 45 days of ordering, and using standard computer security measures.

Default Any good sites for clearance / discount gear

Campsaver.com & backcountry.com - got a lot of good deals & constant coupons. I checked regularly over the last year and was able to get my bf & I all our gear for 1/2 price & it's all new & reputable brands(Gregory, nemo, thermarest, black diamond, TNF, etc). I just made a spreadsheet to see my price vs retail price because I was curious. Keep up with sales & coupons. Also, check multiple sites against each other for better pricing & never pay shipping.
