How do ppl feel about this, ive seen too many times, people gone missing on trails, either for ignorance of asking for directions, and or having been offered a ride. If I recall, someone posted a similar story out of the grand canyon where someone activated their SPOT beacon for a reason that was almost inane (iirc the hiker was tired and low on water, but in no danger.)

I agree with mrs bagging, prosecute and fine the fool. It shouldnt be treated any differently than making a false emergwncy report to 911 in the US.
