Default How many dog this year

Starting that thread over. So anyone have any idea how many dogs will be leaving Springer. From the post it sounds like a lot

One is too many. Do your dog, yourself and your fellow hikers a HUGE favor and leave the dog at home. If you have doubts, ask the better question....."how many dogs that started the AT finished?" The number is WAY less than the percentage of hikers that finish.

Really helpful moose. How about you hike your hike and if we want to bring a dog we can hike ours. You seem awful opinionated without adding any real value to the thread.

Your opinion is noted. Actually....as soon as you bring a dog, we all start to hike your hike. If you ever get out on the trail, you might just learn something. That way you can speak with some experience.

Moose has a point, when I go south to hike in spring I see pleanty of dogs. When I hike Maine in the fall I don't see any. So, how many dogs will there be starting the AT? Way more then there should be.

I have hiked with my dog and will be starting my thru-hike with my dog this very month. Never had a negative word about having my dog with me on a hike. Your allegations are wholly false. Your opinion is negative and not worth a second thought. But I felt it necessary to call you out on your ignorance. You jump to conclusions without knowing me or my experience or anyone else's for that matter. If you cannot find anything useful to put forth you should keep your mouth shut.

I understand his point. Statistically he is correct. But why does it matter?

Bring your dog if you want and best luck to you and your canine, though I do predict that this will be a year with far fewer dogs that previous years and I am putting that thought no one be denied, less dogs be on the trail. (Those 2 can work together)

    Peace

I suspect you will find out in a few weeks to a month. Taking you dog out for a hike of a few days or a week is one thing, doing a thru-hike is quite a bit different.

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Energy for the hike shouldn't be a problem. I have 3 Shelties herding me. I know what it's like to be stared at, and circled.
