    oh goodie...............

I'll be able to buy another pair of socks.

    They don't sell Darn Tough.

Then again, maybe I'll buy another package of Mountain House Lasagna with meat sauce.

You can tell I don't spend much there anymore.

You shouldn't have - but I'm glad you did.

Mine came in the mail today as well. $510. I use their Visa CC for most of my purchases (REI, groceries, eating out, etc). It adds up. Plus, the manager knows my first name. Is that a bad thing?

Not bad at all. I wonder if Joe at Zpacks accepts the REI VISA card?

REI now sells Darn Tough socks. I bought me a pair of light hikers micro crew last time there.

Of course you can save a trip and buy off their website.

Go spend that moolah Tinker !!!

If you are a member you can look up your dividend on line. You don't need a dividend coupon to use at a store. They just look it up and apply it to a purchase if you tell them.

    $425 and change.

We don't buy a lot there unless it's on sale, but using the REI Visa card for all expenses (and paying it off every month) makes for a decent dividend at the end of the year. Not sure what we'll do with it. If you wait until June they will send you a check, then you can spend it anywhere.

    Thanks for the tip.
I had written them off as far as a supplier of superior socks. The REI brand are only good for work socks and limited hiking. They pill a lot. Of course, most people know that I hiked in Smartwools for years and noticed the gradual downward slide of their quality. Some of the lightweight socks are still ok, though.

Don't forget to couple your dividend with the 20% off coupon that's supposed to come any day now. Gonna finally buy a new FULL LENGTH inflatable pad for these old bones.

It's a great thing to wander around in an outfitter and not see anything you need or want.

This weekend with the boys in LI, I bought something in REI for the first time in maybe 18/20 yrs! They gave me the pitch to join and I was not going to, but they said it was lifetime after I said I used to belong.....they looked me up....BING! there I was, 20 yr old address. That $10.00 dividend I remember being unspent was not in their computer !

Getting a whopping $13 back - returned some Big Agnes Air Core mats last year and that did in the bulk of any dividend we had. I do have a $50 gift card and I'm returning a couple more things that'll add up to about $250. I want a new pack and some hiking pants for travel - going to Peru in June.

Happens to me every time I go into the one in Connectiut, that store is little more than an upscale clothstores failed with some backpacks and sleeping bags piled in the corner. I was jealous when I stopped into one in Georgia that resembled a real outfitter. Doesnt matter though, as long as I use my dividend online, I can always find some new toy on their site.
