I never thought of myself of a Yankee until I started looking at the Georgia map. Now I'm having to rethink that. I don't want to get laughed out of town....Is it DAH-luh-NAY-guh? And YOON-i-koy?

out-of-towners usually say, Dallon-eega.
Try saying Houschton, GA...
pronounced hoosh-ton

LOL! These made me smile and miss home just a little bit. Thanks!
How about Unaka (Mountain)?
I've always wondered about 'Cheoah' and 'Stecoah' myself. Then again, coming from north of the Mason-Dixon line, I'd probably mispronounce them anyway, because that's what damnyankees do.
I always know where I am. I'm right here.
You know Houston County, GA is pronounced by the locals as House-ton...
Then head upstate for the world tour:
Egypt (Cairo)
Italy (Milan)
England (Greenwich)
Of course, none of those are pronounced the same in NY state (the 3rd being near Saratoga, not the village in NYC) as they are in the foreign lands. At least Rome is still Rome
And - can anyone pronounce your location?
Probably not mine either (to be specific - Valatie - it's not the obvious one - easiest way to tell a caller is not familiar is when they say it the way it looks).
Dah-lahn-a-ga.....
Suches is = Such-is ( not Sooch-is )
You left out Athens and Moscow.
Of course, being from Niskayuna, I can pronounce all of the above, including vuh-LAY-shuh. And when I tell people that Niskayuna is a suburb of Schenectady their eyes cross.
That's like the question: "What do Indiana University, Wyoming University, and California University have in common?" (They're all in Pennsylvania.)
I always know where I am. I'm right here.
Here is the art for a T-Shirt we sell at the Dahlonega Gold Museum.

I'm not really a hiker, I just play one on White Blaze.
