In my winter pack i prefer to stay away from the extra weight, but in my summer pack i throw in a deck of cards, my trusty combo bottle/wine opener, a tennis call, a bathing suit, my journal, sometimes my kindle, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Usually some vodka.

- Penny whistle, sometimes I carry a strumstick.
- Paperback books. Trade 'em if I can as I go.
- Picture of my boyfriend left at home.
