Beat me to posting this. This is certainly good news for LT hikers, Johnson is usually the last resupply for NOBOS. I also heard rumors that the Long Trail Tavern is re-opening, not sure if this is true or not.
Great News!
I am glad it is reopening! I wish it was open last August when I did the LT. It is hard to believe that this town with a college did not have a grocery store for so long.
Probably one of those things that isn't as noticible to others that aren't hikers.
After all, it's not nearly as big of an issue to have to go to another town 10, 15, 20 miles away for something if you have a car to go in.
Particularly in that part of the state where most people are probably going that distance for many other things anyhow - I always think of the Adirondacks in New York, where you can often drive 20, 30 and more miles without seeing much more than a convenience store sized shop.
I sent a mail drop to Johnson. What I remember most about the town was the coffee shop and a sausage, egg, and cheese panini...
True according to their facebook page-

I loved the LT tavern. Pub grub and Long Trail Ale on tap...and (more or less) ON THE TRAIL! Woo hoo... Of course, that was a while ago.
