That's just awesome stuff right there Odd Man Out... OZ will particularly find this interesting. I would like to propose an announcement of the person(s) that lives the furthest from the trail and also the one that lives the closest to the trail. We could set a time on when this "announcement" will occur as to get everyone to post their miles/yards from the trail. I would like to put you in charge, Odd Man Out, if you are willing.

I think Fiddlehead and Oz would come in close to being the furthest away -out of the country. We could do a furthest from the trail within the USA too.

Slo and Peakbagger are lucky to live so close to the Whites.

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's post on here... thanks for sharing y'all. If this were Facebook I would put a "like" on every single post letting y'all know I read it and I like it!

Max Patch is 12 1/2 miles as the crow flies, Lemon gap a little closer. If it is a clear day, I look through my birding scope and see little people walking the trail up there. Hot Springs is about 15 miles away, by car.

I'll answer as soon as the number of replies match the number of miles from my house to Amicalola Falls State Park.

I do still get out on the AT almost every year.
I get back there for my company's selling season every fall.
    Usually make the gathering.
I bought a pair of silk boxer shorts from fiddlehead at the gathering in North Adams and wore them in camp, at hostels/hotels on my hike this spring. Loved them. Looked for you last year in WV but either you weren't there or I missed you.

Not necessarily true. But of course this only applies to me...

The nearest point of the AT to me would be about Waynesboro, Virginia at 150 miles and a 2 1/2 hour drive. Baxter State Park is 890 miles from where I live, and Springer Mt is 580 miles.

Damascus is 360 miles and is about 6 hours.
Daleville is 230 miles and 3 1/2 hours
Snickers Gap is 175 miles and 3 hours
Harpers Ferry is 200 miles and 3 1/2 hours
    Pine Grove about 5 hours

675 miles and 10 hours 5 minutes according to Google Maps to Amicalola Falls. A bit further of course to the nearest actual AT trailhead.

    This far:
We crossed the AT yesterday, Friday, on the NC-TN border at Hwy. 19E just west of Elk Park, NC around Noon:thirty pm - One'ish pm.
We pulled into the driveway at home about 7:45pm-8:00pm today, Saturday.
I am equi-distant from the AT @ Elk Park, NC and Durango, CO. Tough choice.
