Default Need to get to Kent, CT

    To any New Englanders...

Heading out VERY soon to finish the states I had to miss in '06 when I was off trail for 6 weeks with a broken foot. Doing Kent, CT to Hanover, NH. I'm in Portland, ME and need transportation. I can bus to Boston, Worcester, Springfield or Hartford but need to get to Kent from where ever. To make it harder, I want to hit the trail on Sunday 8/31 or Monday 9/1, Tuesday at the latest. Posting this several places.

The ATC shuttle list includes several people that shuttle in Connecticut: http://www.appalachiantrail.org/docs...sm-7-21-13.pdf

Bus to NYC or New Haven, CT. Metro North train to Wassaic or a stop slightly south. You can get a shuttle for I believe $25 from here:

If you don't mind hiking an extra day, you could also just take Metro North to the Appalachian Trail stop on the weekends.

Last summer I sectioned from Kent south. I took the Metro North train from Grand Central Station to Ten Mile Station. We were supposed to change trains about half way there, but due to some problem changed to a bus. FYI there are no facilities (water, restroom, porta potty) at Ten Mile Station. Ticket was about $17.

i got a shuttle from the outfitter in Kent for about $25. Called on my arrival and then waited about 45 minutes. I was on the trail by mid afternoon and made it to the tent camping area. I also got fuel at the outfitter since I can't bring it on Greyhound.
