Default Journal updates. How do they do that?

I have been reading lots of journal entries in preperation for my thru in 2015. I notice that it seems that some people update almost every day. If your on the trail for a week at a time, how do they do that? What are some of the best ways to update the journal? I only plan on takeing my smart phone with me, but I don't plan on turning it on, nor do I want to type a whole journal entry on my phone.

They type on thier smart phone and up load the journal via the phone.

If you don't want to type on your phone every day you'll have to keep a hand written paper journal and transcribe it when in town (but most places limit you to 30 minutes of internet time) or send it to some one to do it for you.

Some people write it down long hand and upload it when they get to a town. I had Verizon coverage the whole time I was in GA, barring a couple spots. I would put the phone on airplane mode, lower the brightness all the way (to save more battery), then write my journal entries on the phone.

I have been typing my daily entry in my tent before going to sleep. I use the "Notes" app on my iPhone. I then copy/paste the data to Trail Journals the next day from some mountain peak.

Like ChinMusic, I use the iPhone Notepad application and then cut and paste into Trailjournals when I have service or when in town where there's wifi. I keep my phone in airplane mode as I type the daily entry to save battery and keep the phone off altogether while hiking, turning it on when I suspect I'll have service.

Siri will type it for you. And then upload it when you get a signal.

I didn't think about voice typing then upload later, thats a great idea. My fat fingers would lock up if I had to type a whole journal entry on my Droid. Thanks for all the input gang.

You need cell service for Siri to transcribe your voice to text.

OK maybe not Siri but your significant other can do it from SSB.

Have you tried other input methods like Dasher? It takes some getting used to, but once you and it are trained, it's less effort than touch-screen typing. It's intended for disabled accessibility (people whose hands are paralyzed, for instance) but some ordinarily-abled people swear by it.
I always know where I am. I'm right here.

I have the S Memo app on my Galexy. It works in airplane mode. I will just have to see if it will copy and paste for upload to the journal page. Thanks for the input gang.
