Default Robert Redford, "A Walk In The Woods."

The Oct 13 edition of the NY TIMES has an interview with Robert Redford in which he confirms that filming will begin next year of Bryson's "A Walk In The Woods." Nick Nolte will be the co-star, which was originally conceived to go to his pal Paul Newman.

No doubt it (the movie) will make the AT more crowded than ever.
Something that some may applaud but not me.

Should be interesting to see if he focuses on the slackers (people who hitchike around to join up with their faster friends), speedhikers, the failure rate, nature, towns, or actual walking.

I've been hearing about this for at least 10 years..... I will believe it when I see it.

I thought Nick Nolte was playing the part of Lone Wolf?

You're kidding me, Nick Nolte??? I suppose that he's a bit more believable than Newman would be, but casting him in the lead role won't help draw in an auidence.

Doesn't that look like a believable Katz to you? And, I thought Chuck Norris was playing Lone Wolf.

    Sure it's not Paul Reubens?

I can't believe an 80 yr old man is playing Bryson.....Redford isn't looking too good these days, and I can't imagine any amount of makeup is going to make him pass for early 40s

Isn't Bryson a rather corpulent fellow, & Redford slim? How will that work???

Im sure they will take some dramatic license. It wont be the story of Bill Bryson going for a hike, but some aging guy that wants to do something they always dreamt of. At least they cast the drunk drug-head sidekick well.

With this film and the Cheryl Strayed PCT film in the works, the start of each trail is probably going to get much more crowded each spring but the number who will go the distance may not go up all that much.

Hope they get a good technical advisor.

Perhaps we could nominate a few.
